Re: The Rally Cars
Excellent.
Now from what I can deduce the rally cars all had extra gauges in the speaker panel but it also looks as tho they changed the rev counter to a black type possibly MG or Mini? Can anyone shed light on the details of the dashboard?

Nice to see all that iron hanging off the front didn't create terminal understeer.

I think it could be.. I do know it had wheel straps on the roof so could be part of that.

If you look on this shot you can see the mounting point for what is a hand op wiper! And the wheel mounts on the roof,
The extra fluid bottle would assume it had a washer jet too.

Re: The Rally Cars
Does anyone know or can tell what radiator is fitted to this car?? I can see the top brackets have been modifiedlocost_bryan wrote:This is the 1800TC driven by Kiwi touring car legend Jim Richards, in the marathon 1972 Heatway Rally of NZ. The car has been restored and is owned by member of forum (or was). It was one of two built by Special Tuning for NZ Motor Corporation, alongside two 1275GT Minis. Andrew Cowan won in one of the Minis.
The photos are from when the car was sold on Trademe in March 2010.

I think that it might be a 1.3 radiator, the pins are wider apart. You can get Marina rads with double top pins so they will fit both types cars.

That looks just like a 1.8 rad mounts and radiator inlet in the same place.

Hi all,hope all is well.
The V8 Marina with the Aussie grill is South African.
You can read more about it in David Hardcastle's History of the Rover V8
It is a great read

Re: The Rally Cars
Youtube video "World Cup Rally 1974 - Claudio Mueller" here. Looks like "home movie" footage, no sound, following a Brasilian VW team. Nearly an hour long, haven't watched it all the way through (or on a decent sized screen), but think the Foden Marina is in some of the pre-start footage.beniboyz wrote:Yes it certainly looks a weight!
