Wiper spindle problem

Hi all,
I was going to change the rubber buffer/seals on my wiper spindles as they leak quite badly. Doing so I have opened a can of worms as the spindles themselves have corroded quite heavily and the thread just crumbled away from under the nut (they look to be aluminium). I think I am going to have to change the mechanism for the wipers but how easy is this to do? I imagine I will have to strip out the dash at least. Can replacement mechanisms be bought?

Wheel boxes quite easy to buy as were Lucas parts fitted on many British cats of the era. Remove glove box and instruments then work through the apertures.

I might be wrong but I think MINI wheel boxes are the same so they will still be available

Mini wiper spindles are too short. Triumph Stag are the ones you need. I think TR6 and Hillman Imp are also the same.
