Diesel bell housings are different....

Post by marina12 » Sat Apr 24, 2021 9:19 pm

Still learning about Marinas and Itals- the diesel had a different bell housing? I thought it was a 1.8. (1.7) box.

The Diesel bellhousing is in two halves. The cast backplate for the engine is about 2-3 inches deep covering the flywheel most of the clutch cover and then the bellhousing in your picture.

Is the actual gearbox any different? Lower ratios I think I remember?

Same gearbox ratios as standard 1.8/1.7. BL fitted them with the 1.3 diff with the 4.11:1 ratio though.

David - the gearbox will have the black speedo drive to match the 4.11:1 diff, to run it with a 3.63:1 diff will need the orange/red speedo drive.

The clutches are the same.
I fitted a diesel clutch in my previous Tc
