Morris Oxford MO/Isis/MS Six front suspension

Post by locost_bryan » Mon Jul 12, 2021 1:13 am

While investigating torsion bar options for the Marina, found this illustration of the front suspension of a Morris Oxford MO. I noticed that whilst it was based on the Minor, it had telescopic shocks with the shock mount sandwiched between the lower arms. I wonder how similar the lower arms are to the Marina items, would be handy if they are the same length and width.

An interesting development of the MO was the Hindustan Ambassador, which had the same front suspension, but was further developed to eventually have roll bars and disc brakes. It also had a model with the 1489cc B-series diesel with a 5-speed gearbox, the source of which isn't stated, but is likely to be Isuzu as they also had models with 1800cc or 2000cc Isuzu petrol or diesel engines.

Wow Bryan, it's got "moulded door cards"! Oh, the luxury! 😆 Forget the Fiat 500 , the S type Jag and new Mini this is retro that never went away! A result of more than sixty years continuous development! Just needs a set of Minilites.
Are they still in production? I watched a programme about them a few years ago, where it was saying that sales were dwindling and that it might be being phased out at long last. 😩
Interesting thoughts about the suspension Bryan.
I wonder if many were exported?

Production ended in March 2014. Some were imported to the UK in 1992 as the Fullbore Mark 10, but they didn't sell well.
