Gearbox mount dimensions.

Post by da55ter » Sat May 20, 2023 11:09 am

So some might have seen I'm looking for the gearbox mount fory 74 pickup, but the old one that I've taken off seems to have been a random non Morris mount. Can anyone give me the distance between the two posts on a genuine mount. So I can see if it will fit to my gearbox, hoping whoever fitted the old one didn't modify anything. Cheers

This is an 1800 Marina bush, the double threaded pins drop into the two holes in the gearbox crossmember, so you already have the correct dimension you need. The single threaded pin fits into the gearbox tail shaft. The 1300 version has a smaller rubber bush but the threaded pins are in exactly the same position and mount in exactly the same way. The bushes are interchangeable, so you could fit an 1800 one on your van as a ‘heavy duty’ alternative to the 1300 version. This one is for sale for £9.99 plus postage on eBay. Personally I’m not sure why you would want to make something up when the correct bushes are available so cheaply.

Sorry struggling to post the pic, I’ll try again, but if you follow the link, you’ll see the bush in the eBay advert.

Just a random question is your gearbox a standard Marina Or Ital gearbox or something else?

This is a pic of the correct 1.3 engine mount, I can’t find any in the UK at the moment, this one is in Greece. Moprod part number EM466. Interestingly the Vauxhall Chevette uses exactly the same Moprod part number, but I couldn’t find one of those either :-)

Ooops my bad, I described the fittings upside down. The single pin goes at the bottom into the centre hole in the crossmember and the twin pins goes at the top, directly into the holes where you show the bolts on the underside of the tailhousing.

Sorry for the confusion - my error.
