Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Engine reconditioner came and picked up my TC engine. Young bloke and his older offsider. The older guy began reminiscing about Marinas, had fond memories of the Marina pickup they had as a work hack. Younger guy mentioned they'd done a few engines for MGs and Minis, seemed to have a good appreciati...

Re: New Marina purchase/new Owner

That seems not too bad a list for recommissioning a car that has been stood for 10 years. Have you replaced the brake fluid? Highly recommended if you haven't, since it's hydroscopic and likely to have absorbed moisture while standing - not a problem until you get the brakes warmed up and the water ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Arranged for a local engine reconditioner to pick up my engine on Monday, strip it down, and see what needs replacing. A parts supplier is having a "retiring soon" sale, and he's offering good discounts on a range of bearings and pistons for the ohc 1750 motor.

Re: New Marina purchase/new Owner

Sounds like a bit of an adventure. Have you been in touch with Skip Harris at RPM Group marinaman.org? He seems to have the biggest stock of Marina parts in the US.

Welcome to the forum.

Re: Wrong engine, right?

Electric fuel pump on the MGB, have to check if the cam has the lobe to run the mechanical pump.

Most of the other differences are in the ancillaries, like the backplate, that you can just swap over from you current engine.

Chris will fill you in on any fish hooks. :-)

Re: Wrong engine, right?

Kilroy in Christchurch would be your best bet for sourcing an O-series engine. The 1700 was never offered in anything else in NZ, the Princess only got the 2000 version, and neither car were big sellers. I've heard of a few other Marinas that have had the 1700 replaced with an 1800, probably because...

Australian Marina Brochure

I recently bought a couple of Australian Marina brochures, one a comprehensive 14 page booklet, and the other a truncated 6 pages in a 3-leaf foldout format. Have scanned the 14 page booklet into a rather large 34mb pdf file (not recommended to open over a dialup connection :o ) Australian Marina Br...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Got the driver's door assembled. Had to remove the quarterlight window and weatherstrip I put in the other day, because I forgot to put the windup glass in first - doh! Then had a struggle to get the new outer weatherstrip on, had to resort to a screwdriver and wallpaper scraper in place of the five...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Managed to get the outer weatherstrip installed, had to fit the clips to the seal first, then push the seal down against the door until the seal lip was pretty much standing upright, then used a wallpaper scraper to lever the seal lip back up over the door edge. Looks like a snug seal now. Then fitt...

Mk1 Coupe Rear Quarterlight Hinge Rubbers

Were the hinges and rubbers for the opening rear quarterlight windows shared with any other BL cars, or any other makes? The part I am trying to find is the "Hinge Locating Rubber" that fits into the B pillar, one for each hinge. Item 18 in the illustration from the Australian Parts Manual. Marina r...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?

Been working on the door seals again. Had another stab at the outer weatherstrip, but the 12mm clips don't seem to be long enough, or the strip is too short. Either way, managed to get a clip on by pushing the weatherstrip down almost flat, but then the rubber popped back out. Might have to see how ...
