Re: Spotted today
It must have gone to someone else since, but tbh the axle casing was corroded quite heavily so only the diff would have been of use really,,I'll get something sorted eventually.

Re: Spotted today
That's my old one that was going to be a 2.2 E powered car, however a 73 mk1 came up that was going to be bangered and I did a swap simply as there's no room for sentimentality, condition rules the roost

Re: Convert Marina Gearbox to LHD
Pre m13A gearboxs have the 0.86 fifth and there's a 0.79 version also for earlier engines
I also like the look of the 2.4 duratorq gearbox as that's got a compact bellhousing and the 4 bolt version uses a conventional prop joint rather than the donut

Re: Convert Marina Gearbox to LHD
The beauty of an A series and engines of their ilk lies in the backplate being able to be remade to accept any old bellhousing within reasonable constraints, I'd look at a Suzuki jimny gearbox as its compact and very refined in design infact I'll be looking at this more closely as I'll be doing a 5 ...

Flywheel ringgear interchangeability
Does anyone know if this is likely to fit a 1300 flywheel?

Re: 1300 Auto box required
The reason I asked about a 1.8 auto is because I know a chap who has an 1800 marina autobox, then all you would need is a back plate and to make up the various hardware if a 1275 one doesn't come up sooner.

Re: 1300 Auto box required
I guess an 1800 type 35 would fit the back plate of a 1300 but presumably the required component would be the 1300 flex plate?

Re: Help me get marina engine working
Most likely corroded points, if you have a thin file, open the points and gently file inbetween them letting spring pressure do the work. That should then fire up in the absence of any other issues.

Re: Marina 1300 radiator upgrade?
Thermostats are fairly sluggish in reaction to temp and are variably open over a temp band as a sort of crude damping effect. When faced with cooler coolant they just end up sitting slightly less open but it's enough that the running temp drops a smidge albeit with an absolute minimum temp where the...

Re: E10 Petrol
I reckon the issue with hygroscopic ethanol shouldn't be too much of a bother if the fuel is only in regular use transit as at least any moisture is absorbed into the ethanol then is taken into the engine than with normal fuel where its hanging around the bottom as coalesced droplets. , however for ...

Re: Someone save this 1973 Marina TC Auto, Please!
Borg Warner type 35 boxes are fine behind rover v8 engines so live an easy life with small B series units, welding is the expense as your competing against the white collar contingent for a depleted and fragile resource of panels however alot of the inner stuff is easy to make and improvise at least.
