Re: Ballast resistor
Thank you for the replies. Mine is a late very late 78 car and doesn’t have an obvious ballast resistor, like in the photo. I’ve recently switched to a 68d distributor from one of those modern points replacement Trigger systems you can buy. I had found that when the engine is hot the motor won’t rev...

Ballast resistor
I have question. I saw a thread on mmoc fb page about the ignition wire to the coil being ballasted.
Is this true?
(I have a high power coil and ‘electronic trigger’ distributor fitted at the mo) Any help much appreciated.
Thanks, Dave.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Thanks for that David. I really have set the dissy up by rough estimate. If I turn the dissy one way or the other it starts to run badly. I Also put it in high gear and flattened the accelerator and it does not ‘Pink’. Revs freely and thus far runs well.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
I forgot to add. That’s not it clamped fully down at this point in the photo. I was in the process of adding a secondary 'C' clamp to stop the dissy from Potentially popping out. Anyway the engine misses a beat at idle (not sure if this did this before) but it revs and runs well. I’m only asking to ...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
It’s a 65D distributor. It was advertised as for a Leyland Daf 200/400 series 2ltr petrol. The cog drive is the same and the shaft length is also the same. The clamp tho is very different. I had to fashion a 25D dissy clamp to fit. I believe these distributors are fitted to the late spi minis. I’m o...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Yes, I am pleased with new metal. I replaced the steering rack a few weeks ago. I also fitted a 3.27 ratio diff and replaced the prop Center bearing. These are jobs that I’ve put off for a year or so but I had no excuse, what with the weather being fine! It’s funny because I can easily talk myself o...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
I fitted a new wing this week. As usual (for me) it was a bit tougher than I thought it'd be. And filled a hole and painted it badly (for now)

Re: Wipers
Hi,
Thanks for all your thoughts. All I've done for now is move the Passenger wiper further away from the bottom of the screen. It still goes off the screen a wee bit at it's furthest travel, oddly, exactly the same as before i moved the wiper, but not enough to bother me.

Hi,
The windscreen wipers both go off the screen at either end of the wiper stroke. Can anyone offer me some advise please?

Thanks Ben. Sorry I stupidly misread the Haynes. As you say, it can be done. Doh!

gearbox removal 1700
A quick question and any help, again is much appreciated. Can i remove the COMPLETE gearbox (bell housing included) from my 1700 o series without removing the engine? Haynes manual says no. (I am aware that the box WITHOUT the bell-housing is possible but i need to remove the complete gearbox)

Hi all,
I'm looking for some advice or tips on fitting new wings to a mk3 Marina if you please (there doesn't seem to be anything in the Haynes manual) A link or some guidance would be much appreciated.
With thanks in advance, Dave.
