Yellow Car Wanted For Filming
Via club member Sarah Crabtree, we’ve been contacted by a film company looking for a yellow Marina or Ital for filming on the 7th & 8th June, filming in the Leighton Buzzard area on the Beds & Bucks border. The car will be filmed both being driven and as static background car. Contact me on ...

Re: Gearbox mount dimensions.
Ooops my bad, I described the fittings upside down. The single pin goes at the bottom into the centre hole in the crossmember and the twin pins goes at the top, directly into the holes where you show the bolts on the underside of the tailhousing.
Sorry for the confusion - my error.

Re: Gearbox mount dimensions.
This is a pic of the correct 1.3 engine mount, I can’t find any in the UK at the moment, this one is in Greece. Moprod part number EM466. Interestingly the Vauxhall Chevette uses exactly the same Moprod part number, but I couldn’t find one of those either :-)

Re: Gearbox mount dimensions.
This is an 1800 Marina bush, the double threaded pins drop into the two holes in the gearbox crossmember, so you already have the correct dimension you need. The single threaded pin fits into the gearbox tail shaft. The 1300 version has a smaller rubber bush but the threaded pins are in exactly the ...

Re: Dropping Front Suspension
I have often wondered about grafting in the rear axle pickup points from a Triumph Dolomite onto the Marina floorpan and then using the 1850 Dolomite rear axle , which has four links, anti-roll bar and coil springs, but it retains a solid rear axle, essentially the same as a Marina, diff, halfshafts...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Fitted new leaf springs which has raised the rear by about 30mm and springs are not flat now and all poly bushed. The old rubber eye bushes were starting to split which is not surprising. Greased handbrake cable, fitted new steering rack gaiters (12 years old and were very perished). Polished brake...

Re: Dropping Front Suspension
I managed to drop the front of my Ital Pickup by 2 inches (50mm) just by adjusting the torsion bar trimmers where they meet the chassis rail. No need for spline adjustment or any special parts, although as the Pickup didn’t have a front anti-roll bar, so I can’t say whether there would be any proble...

Re: What to do about ancient brake calipers?
Don’t stress about splitting them - everyone else does. Try to save the rubber sealing rings between the calipers as not all seal kits contain this seal.

Re: What to do about ancient brake calipers?
I would try first myself. I know that Martin Wallis was rebuilding calipers on exchange and they worked out cheaper than BiggRed.

Re: Adjustable front tie bars.
I think if I were making anything adjustable it would be the top suspension arm. This would allow you to adjust the amount of wheel/tyre negative/positive camber. A little research might turn up a Mini kit for an adjustable top arm. Adjusting the tie bars to pull/push the lower arm backwards or forw...
