Re: 1.7 and 2.0 O series compatibility. Replacement or replacement parts
Interestingly that is not one of the later 1.7 O series engines. The later units did away with the oil filler cap on the cambox cover and instead mounted it from the blanking plate on the right rear side of the crankcase. I still have one of those engines as the starting point for my ultimate O seri...

Re: 1.7 and 2.0 O series compatibility. Replacement or replacement parts
Hey Mike. I have built several 2 litre O series engines by simply using Austin Princess cranks and pistons in the 1.7 block. The 2 litre pistons are much shorter both top and bottom to 1700, so would likely exhibit less bore friction in use. I used 1.7 conrods and could detect no difference between ...

Re: Switch question
Cheers Larry.
Don't hear much about Morris in Canada or America, presumably went there in small numbers.
Be a rare car to own I guess, and getting to be that way everywhere now.
Best luck.

Re: Switch question
Ah. That explains why it has a 'ground' terminal.
So my idea that it is a changeover switch appears wrong.
Perhaps tracing the wire would be the only guaranteed answer.

Re: Switch question
My guess is that this switch was used to operate a 2-speed heater fan motor - either because the car had been upgraded to a 2-speed equipped heater or because the original dashboard switch failed.
Oh.
My reasoning is because this is an either/or switch, and some of the colours agree.

Re: Mgb exhaust
I was running the same setup on the yellow car prior to removing the engine for use in the estate. While it sounded pretty business, there was a harsh quality to the sound that did not please me, hence my idea that the use of a resonator might smooth the sound out a bit without muffling too much. Th...

Re: Mgb exhaust
Thanks for the info guys.
I have no idea what was originally fitted as all now seem to possess replacement items that often do not look as though they were designed to fit in the space provided.
Was the original front muffler on the Marina an offset type or were the pipes central both ends..?

Mgb exhaust
Hey all. During my current Estate rebuild a friend suggested that I should make it sound like an MGB. Not a bad idea actually. What I would like to know is how different is the Marina front downpipe setup as compared to mgb.? Perhaps they are interchangeable.? To my knowledge the mgb used a front mu...
