I'm going to try and flatten them out like you say but if that doesn't work, I bought this from you at the Nationals so I'll swap out the whole thing

Re: Another 1971 Car Found!!!!!!
Bet this is an unexpected update for you all . With the heavy rain over the last couple of days, I decided to uncover this one to let it dry out. I'm surprised to say it's no where near as bad as I remember (must be like whiskey, gets better with age ). I then wanted to get the rust off th...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
You're right there Chris, I'm surprised how it rotted out like it had. All I can think of is mud got trapped between the wheel tub liners and body and with the wet just rotted it. Cheers Gareth . That's what it looks has happened yeah, although it was probably parked on the sea bed . I...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Thought this may be interesting for some people. Not a Marina I was working on today but my '98 Peugeot Partner van I now use daily. My brother helped me strip it yesterday evening and today and I got on with the welding. It's got its MOT coming up in November and I was told last year if I didn't we...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
I'm sure it'll all be obvious when I see it in the flesh as I can't tell from the photo, but how do you actually get into your car Ben?
It looks great though, it's definitely got that look of a car that isn't to be messed with

Re: Top ball joint question
I can't recall seeing the bit I have circled below in my '71 coupe (and the flat nut come to think of it) when I stripped the top ball joint to fit a new dust cover. But the rest of it looks the same and it may be one of those BL things where they changed it a year after production started after rea...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Spent the remainder of the evening putting some panels on the wall to clear some floor space . Just 3 front wings, 2 saloon rear quarters, 4 outer sills, 1 inner sill, 1 front valence, 1 rear valence and any other odd bits to go

Re: Mk2 1.8 HL Automatic update
Thanks Alex. I'm sure is going to be either tight swivels or a dodgy rack. Bit hacked off (as in worrying a bit, not taking the hump) when Josh said grease coming out can pop the seals. I even got a bit coming out on my old Mk1 in the 1980s using that palm-sized push-on grease gun thing, and that w...

Re: Mk2 1.8 HL Automatic update
This was the state of one of the trunnions on REW and the pin was so seized that even some serious hits with a lump hammer wouldn't shift it . received_939012182940281.jpeg I can't think of anything else to try apart from what's already been suggested, but it will probably be something straight...

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
I replaced the front wheel bearings on PTH today. The n/s failed the MOT a few weeks ago so it made sense to replace both sides. I couldn't change the cups the bearing run in as I think you'd need a press to get them out but they looked ok with no scoring or pitting, after I finished, everything wa...
