Tour de France TC

Post by ScreamingLordStokes » Tue Aug 11, 2020 11:28 pm

OK so I've posted the Milk Race Marinas now here's the big one.
As the Le Tour is starting in August this year I thought this may be of interest.
It is the Marina TC in which Daily Telegraph journalist David Saunders followed the 1973 Tour de France. The car was driven by legendary cycling commentator Phil Liggett and was loaned for Saunders to use by British Leyland.

The BOJ Marinas must have been the sporting division of the press fleet!

Crikey she was quite a big name tennis player in the 70s Josh, BL must've pushed the boat out a bit to get her!
I think Josh will be able to tell us if any of these cars still exist Ivor. I suppose these cars were used as general hacks by BL, being loaned out to all and sundry for publicity purposes, we can but hope eh!
Just thinking I can't quite tell from the pic but was the Tour TC a saloon or coupe?

BOJ 628K does not come up on the DVLA database BOJ 627K does as a white Morris registered in February 1972 but last taxed in November 1984 and has never had a electronic MOT I suspect both are long gone. May be possible its held up undiscovered in a barn or shed somewhere more likely is just an old V5 lying in draw somewhere.

I don't know of any BOJ cars that survive. The former owner of the coupe was trying to track it down but it's undoubtedly long dead now! I also have this shot of BOJ 622K. Looking up the reg numbers either side would give an indication how big this batch of cars was.

Cool pic Josh.
BOJ would be a good number plate for my Marina
So what do you reckon, is the "tour" TC a saloon or coupe?
