Clocked up about 600 miles including a couple of runs over the Llanberis and the Nant Francon passes. Probably the hardest for both car and driver was a trip from Caenarfon to Harlech via the A4085 which is a narrow and twisting road with some steep hairpin bends.

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
Dug my Coupe out of its slumbers, for the first time since December. Started first time right on the button. Pump the tyres up a little and let her warm through before trying the clutch. Unfortunately the clutch plate was stuck to the flywheel, but two three starts in gear andthen stomping the brakes freed it off.
Drove down to the local Tesco for some 99 Ron petrol and noticed a slight exhaust blow. It sounds like one of the four manifold to head clamps, so waiting now for it all to cool down.

Changed my fuel return line and then did the same Chris. Took a scenic route to fill up with Super (E5) ready for next weeks show. No pictures of the drive, but I do have a boring photo with my wheel off.

Ah, yes we always stop there and go to the "OK Diner". Unfortunately it was closed this year so we just parked up there and ate sandwiches instead.Gee tc wrote: ↑Mon Aug 31, 2020 11:23 amA55 by mold at servicesScreamingLordStokes wrote: ↑Sat Aug 29, 2020 11:41 pmI remember you posting that you'd seen my car. Drove back to South Yorks from Whitby via Scarborough (where we saw a mint N reg Escort RS 2000 and a mk2 RS as well). Place we stayed at in Whitby was under the impressive 13 arch Larpool viaduct (not my car's best side, looking forward to getting it sprayed!)

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
The railway that crossed the viaduct ran from Scarborough along the coast to Whitby via Robin Hood's Bay. Its now a cycle/footpath, but just imagine how popular it would be as a steam railway today. Actually the North Yorkshire Moors railway from Pickering to Whitby passes under the viaduct alongside the river Esk. Anyone remember the National rally on the NYMR at Levisham?

That would've been a good few miles for a first trip Paul. Did you feel relaxed or were you listening for odd noises and keeping an eye on the temp gauge etc?JubileeNut wrote: ↑Sat Sep 05, 2020 9:30 pm Yes I do. It was the first run my Jubilee did after being restored. I stayed in Pickering
Lovely place Pickering isn't it?

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
listening for noises all the way up.
I lost a wheel stud and nut on the way as well.
Found out that the counter sunk screws I used for the rear drums were not flush or under flush and caused the wheel to vibrate and that caused a stud to fracture.
I put this right very fast before I lost a wheel and not had an issue since.
But it did very well and has been a fantastic car.
I always listen for sounds though and if I feel or hear something out of the ordinary I investigate.
I must replace the n/s front upright as the stub axle has always been worn allowing the front bearing inner to spin on the axle. It does now make a noise and has extra play but again has done 10K like it

Re: What did you do to your Marina today?
A temporary fix for the stub axle i've seen is to hammer a centre punch on the surface of the axle which creates an interferance fit for the bearing.
So is that ten years since you got the Jubilee back on the road Paul? I've had my Damask saloon for ten years and the NYMR national was the first event i took it to. Crikey, can't believe it was a decade ago!
