Picked up some new rear window dealer stickers today for PTH
20190401_224429.JPG
This was the original..
PTH Old Dealer Sticker.JPG
This is actually the glue residue that stuck to the sticky tape, there was no sticker left!
The original was clear with, I think, gold or yellow writing but the print shop I use didn't have the right paper to do that.
I'll still be sending the original to someone who can do it, though because I'm not certain of what colour it used to be I'll probably just use the blue one. I kind of prefer it anyway, looks very 70's 8-)

Not so much Marina but....
Tonight I've bought a Fiat Coupe from an ex Club member John Capon.. By pure coincidence!
You may remember his car a white SDL that was a show winner and appeared at the 2007 Nationals GCV***N that was A1 and scrapped for a grand in the govt scrappage scheme 2009? Caused an uproar and when I told him that it'd happened... Well it ruined his day...as he didn't know.. Sorry John.
So I'm off to Devon next week to collect..
Anyone want to buy a very nice Escort Ghia?

Went up to look at that engine in Llandysul today. It's basically a lump of rust in the shape of an engine! The block and crank look worth keeping maybe, not sure about the cylinder head though. Manifold seems ok too. Everything else is scrap. Had some odd bits thrown in too. Front and rear windscreen, two front mk3 wheel arch trims, front valance skirt, a bumper corner and rear light units, though only the lenses were savable. Thirty quid all in, not bad.

Stripped the engine I picked up yesterday. The pistons were seized in but managed to get them out, just! Timing chain was rusted to the timing gear and sprocket and the front plate had holes in it. The only thing I could save from this was the block, cam and crank and few odd bits. Cylinder head can be rebuilt but needs everything, the rocker shaft was just a bar of rust!

Seeing the prices of A series engines over the last few years, the bits you have saved have to be worth at least £30 all day long .
1976 1.3 DL Coupe - Retired daily after 2.5 years, smashed up, now being fixed (PDA 827R) (Lumpy)
1971 1.3 SDL Saloon - Rotting into the front garden, will resume in 2021 (VGV 616K) (Rusty)
1971 1.3 DL Coupe - MOT'ed and on the road, used as much as possible (REW 5K) (Tigger)
2013 Ford Focus Zetec S - Very economical and a great car in general

Crikey, it was a bit worse than I feared then! I've never seen one quite that bad before...

However the crank and block are worth what he was originally asking for it, that's + the engine plates are pretty much all you need for a rebuild for a RWD car (it's all we used on mine for my Mk2 saloon, everything else came from a NOS Maestro A+!). Imagine the conrods are probably OK too?

Looks like it was probably worth the trip, better than going in the scrap anyway!

Yes, it was very bad. It had sat outside since 1987! The guy messaged me the day before, saying it might not be worth me calling as he had a good look at it and realized it was worse than he thought. Not sure if the con rods are any good, they're seized pretty fast to the pistons, plus I hammered them to get the pistons out. Water pump had to be smashed off, distributor had to be smashed out, nearly all the studs holding everything on snapped, even the push rods were hour glassed from rust! As you say, it was worth it just for these bits, the other parts are easy to get.
