Fuel Lines
looking at the fuel lines on the latest Marina and noticing they look well worn/ perished and after seeing pictures of a few classics that have caught fire recently Have decided to change all the fuel lines on the marina fleet, does anyone know what length is needed and the bore size, there are a few on eBay 6mm and 8mm and I'm better at imperial measurements .. Cheers Chaps..
got the new one turning over new fuel pump ordered, and coming together nicely, (just wish the weather was a tad warmer )

Re: Fuel Lines
The original hose was 5/16" (8mm) from the tank to the fuel pump and then depending on the carbs, either 1/4" (6mm) or 5/16".

Re: Fuel Lines
Go for marked ethanol resistant (10%) or you be doing it again sooner than you think
I found some Goodyear pipe but now sold out as I had to buy 50m of each size.

Re: Fuel Lines
The hose code to look for is SAE J30 R7 for low pressure carb hose, this is ethanol resistant up to E10 (10% ethanol).
If you are offered SAE J30 R6 - this is for unleaded without ethanol so no use what so ever.
If you are offered SAE J30 R9 - this is also for E10 fuel, but for high pressure systems with fuel injection. The hose wall is stiffer/tougher which means that it can't be bent round corners as easy as the R7.

Re: Fuel Lines
I bought some of Paul V around 2 years ago.
Have had no issues with it whatsoever and still looks and feels as good as the day it arrived. Well worth it got the piece of mind.
I've seen quite a few expensive restos on facebook that have gone up in flames! Not worth the risk of anything other..... especially with the layout on a TC just above the exhaust manifold.

Re: Fuel Lines
Hello all,
No prizes for guessing one of the jobs that I think needs doing on the TC saloon.
Does anyone know how much fuel hose to go for? And how much to pay?
Obscure questions I know, but better to ask and maybe get a recommendation or two than go off half cocked and get ripped off.
Thanks all!!

Re: Fuel Lines
I bought one 50 metre reel of 5/16 and one of 1/4 Goodyear E10 (SAE J30 R7) Kept what I needed and sold the rest on Ebay.
Think I got it from Goodyear rubber products direct. Had to buy 50m MOQ.
But good hose all marked as it should be.
Don't waste time buying unmarked hose as you don't know what you are getting and may have to replace every 3 years.

Re: Fuel Lines
Thank you!
My next task will be finding them from the looks of it.
Wish I had started this job a lot sooner.
Still, learning a lot as I go.
