Re: Brain trust help.
I have UK production numbers by year, but as vans and pickups (utes) literally came randomly off the same production track at Cowley the numbers would be combined. First Commercial chassis number Jan 1979 58068, first chassis number Jan 1980 79688 - so total 1979 commercial production that year was 21,619. Export vehicles had separate runs of chassis numbers (usually starting with a 3, with 6 digits rather than 5 digits for vehicles intended for UK sales).
Front disks were standard on commercials from November 1978.

Cheers,thanks for the info.
Now I need to get new brakes that do not have asbestos.
This needs to be done so no issue from customs in Oz.

Re: Brain trust help.
EBC do a range of standard and uprated brake pads and shoes.
The front brake pads are;
Standard (asbestos free) = DP106
Fast Road (asbestos free) = DP2106
The same calipers (Girling Type 14 LF) were used on Triumph Dolomites and Spitfire 1500s, so should be readily available from Aussie Triumph part suppliers.
The rear brakes shoes on a 10cwt/575 Commercial are not the same as the saloon/coupe/estate as they used a heavier duty axle and brake drums. Happily they sourced the parts (known as the banjo axle) from the MGA and early MGB (later axles are different). The BL parts manual lists them as GBS778 and latterly GBS800, probably the changeover to asbestos free linings. The OE MGB part number is GBS740, but I would think that a request for GBS800 may turn something up.

Re: Brain trust help.
YE27KH was first used as the 10cwt Pickup identifier for vehicles built in the UK at Cowley, Oxford from October 1975, it continued in use until September 1978, with the introduction of the Mk3 Marina and matching commercial updates.
The first number 8 signifies an export vehicle. The actual chassis number 009427 indicates a run of export vehicles and doesn’t fit into the UK chassis number runs. The P at the end indicates shipment to New Zealand. I have not seen the little aluminium tag before, but as it is riveted underneath the chassis plate, it would seam to have been fitted in the UK. It may have been some kind of shipment identifier.
Given your stated first registration in 1979 in NZ, it would suggest a late 1978 vehicle exported by sea (pre-container but probably in a big wooden box) arriving in 1979.

Re: Brain trust help.
The Pickup was fitted with standard disks from November 1978, so yours just missed out. A UK built Marina Saloon, Coupe or Estate can supply the calipers, disks, backplates, and caliper brackets. The uprights are common to both.
Does the Pickup have a servo - you’ll need one with the disks. A donor car with the other parts should have what you need.

The final letter is a plant code (according to several Mini and Minor groups)MarinaCoupe wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 9:40 pm The first number 8 signifies an export vehicle. A = Longbridge
B = Seneffe, Belgium
F = Adderley Park, Birmingham
M = Cowley
N= Petone, Wellington
P = Auckland
Before the BMC merger, Austin and Morris had different importers in New Zealand. The Austin agents were Nuffield Motors, with an assembly plant at Petone, near Wellington. The Morris agents were Dominion Motors, with two assembly plants in Auckland, one at Newmarket for cars and another at Panmure for commercials. Morris Minor commercials were assembled at Panmure until replaced by the Marina, and also had the "P" at the end of the chassis code.

Re: Brain trust help.
The discs & hubs will have to come from a later model 10 cwt van /pickup as the wheel centers and studs are a different size to those fitted on cars & 7 cwt vans . I think.
Re: Brain trust help.
Sourced rear shoes.
Are the front shoes same as rear.
