A friend of a friend had a MK6 bentley wired up to the mains.
Occasionally, there'd be dead rats discovered that had inadvertantly "cooked" or so I was told...

If you keep the current low it will just give a nasty shock and the cat will run off! But if it were a person maybe wind it up a bit :-D
I can assure you that no one would want to hang on to 7,500V dc for long and I could wind that up to 15,000V if required.
After touching it you do normally need a long sit down and a cup of tea and by then I probably would have bashed his head with a bat

Mains is bad as it will kill and cook. It may also damage paint which is not desirable :D

Bring it on if your hard enough  :D

Good ones, but have heard them before, you get a lot of those jokes in the electronics industry.

But on a serious note, you do have to be careful as you don't really want to kill anyone or animals, plus if your setup is not safe and you get HV arcing you could end up burning your garage down!
I have been woken up in the night to find what looks like a fire work display going off lighting up the garden with the old set up, had to pop down and shut it all off in me PJs - not a pretty thought  :silent:
So don't try this at home kids :-D Unless your mad like me

I guess they all go round in CYCLES? Reading some of them truly HERTZ though. I just couldn't RESIST joining in as my CAPACITY for humour and electronics knows no bounds.

Failure and fire would be my main concern, particularly if your garage has any signs of damp etc and there's fuel tanks hanging around :o A nice high voltage at low current from a stabilised supply shouldn't pose any great risks, using the mains though
Could park it in a pen surrounded by electric fencing

There is nothing to stop you floating up the car shell at 10,000V dc, tyres will insulate it and when touched the person should earth the power and get a shock.
The only problem could be with sensitive electronics but the Marina has few of them and they can be protected easily enough.

My dad used to work for an agricultural wholesalers as a travelling rep and we used to have loads of problems with the local scroats trying to break into his MkIV cortina. So he aquired a mains powered bull fencer and ran a length of HT lead with a small crocodile clip to the cleaned up towing eye. We ran some thin galvanised wire rope off the neg terminal and threaded it through some copper rods sunk into the concrete outside the garage.

Great kick off the chrome doorhandles. ;)
We had a great collection of hammers and screwdrivers after that was fitted.. :-D

Plus once cut in to all the loom with all black wires a bugger to fault find. Solved the problem by selling it

I recommend wiring the car up to a nice high voltage power supply - If you think I am joking ask Chris Weedon :shifty:

Already done the garage roof at 7500Vdc and that keeps the cats off :-D
The railway over the back fence is being wired at 25KvAC - would that do the trick?

Wonder if the MythBusters "peeing on the eletric fence" episode is online? ;)

Alarms are more trouble than there worth. Bearing in mind you can get into them with pretty much anything. The key to my bike padlock opens mine up. And my ignition accepts keys to Land rover Defenders and Vauxhall Victors..so yeh.

Unless you live in an area that's normally on fire, and has abandoned trolleys and drunks on every corner? In which case, I'd move! :)

Btw, that coupes amazing :D
