Went in the garage in the dark. Pumped the brakes to make sure they weren't sticking, and rocked car backwards and forwards to make sure it still rolled. And checked the car was still free of condensation stored in these low temperatures. I could copy and paste this statement for the next two months!

Mines 15 miles away in a barn, I miss it

Some years ago and several different classic cars ago, I used to have a rented garage. It was only 5-10 minutes away depending if I went on bike or on foot, but it wasn't a very good garage and it wasn't very convenient. The thing I've got now is only one of those concrete panel ones, but this year I've made attempts to insulate it since I cannot fit the Marina into a Permabag for winter like I used to do with Minis. So far it looks as though my efforts with the garage were worthwhile - shame I can't make the same claims about my Marina!

Refitted the exhaust pipe to the manifold - again!

That orange hi-temp RTV stuff was still soft after two weeks and leaked.

Back to CRC Maniseal, it works!.

Drove up to Newport in PTH with my mate today to pick up what I thought would be one or two Marina parts. ..should have hired a van!

Just as well the Marina has a decent sized boot.

That's an awesome amount of bits; you wouldn't have a MK2 rear bumper, 1.3 rear silence with pipe and a MK1 fan switch in that lot would you?

Lost count how many bumpers I came back with but all mk1 I'm afraid. I was given a box full of switches so should be something there.

Back to CRC Maniseal, it works!.

I have noticed on my 575 van and a mate's 1300 sedan that the same thing happens repeatedly.
That is - the exhaust begins to chuff at the flange joint between pipe and manifold.
What I have found is that the bracket which holds the exhaust to the bellhousing actually prevents the two items joining together properly, and results in the joint failing because it is under constant tension.
Applying a jack under the pipe whilst the joint is apart can be arranged to bend the bracket to allow a relaxed joint to be made.
This tends to provide a permanent cure.

If yours is similar - your new joint will unfortunately fail again..

Hi Kilroy, ta for the advice.
As it happens my ute had NO bracket supporting the exhaust when I bought it, the only bracket was behind the muffler just on front of the back axle!

I noticed as soon as I got the ute that I could smell exhaust inside it, hence my quest to seal the manifold flange.

And as you mention, it started 'chuffing' again a few days after using Maniseal..

So, figuring a support bracket could be a good thing s I made a bracket from a short length of steel 3/4" conduit (hammered flat at each end and appropriate holes drilled) and an exhaust U-clamp.
I tightened the manifold clamp before the exhaust bracket was tightened and there appeared to be no strain on the pipe, it is just steadying it.

I will report back if the manifold flange leaks again. !

Fitted a TC steering wheel to TDT today. I had to buy a new cover and spent most of last night trying to sew it! Took a few attempts but looks good.

Nicely done! Been looking for a good one of those for ages, hadn't even thought about trying to recover one.

Where did you get the cover and is it leather?
You could turn any steering wheel in to a TC one by sewing on leather as I think there is no other difference.
I have one in the loft which could do with re-leathering
