Here are the two pumps. the better one (from Moss) is on the left. Although there is less machining on it, I think that is because the casting is much better in the first place. The impeller is also much better. I also suspect the reason the poorer one (on the right) is painted is to cover up the rubbish finish.

The only b*gger is that, since i bought it a few days ago, Moss have now reduced the price by about £8. Now would be a good time to get one as a spare!

Great that you've got a decent quality one Robin. I thought it was a pretty good price to start with but with the discount they are a bargain aren't they?
I suppose those two pumps illustrate the juxtaposition of having a vehicle that shares components with something as popular as the MGB. On the one hand there is excellent parts supply, with a company like Moss going the extra mile to supply a superior quality part. On the other hand there's sometimes so much choice it's hard to sort the wheat from the chaff, particularly so when looking at parts online.
