Fitting door mirrors!

Post by RetroMat » Tue Aug 23, 2022 10:12 am

I'm in the process of finishing the restoration of my works Austin 7cwt van. I'm looking to fit some door mirrors. The van never had them from new but I would like the van to be a little more usable
I've purchased a pair of these:

My question is where should they go! Before I start drilling Did BL ever release a guide where on the door they should be fitted? I've been looking at various pictures of marinas and the door mirrors seem to move around the area of the 1/4 light.

This appears to be an official Mk2 publicity photo, showing what I assume to be the official factory position for your type of door mirror.

I had a similar type of mirror on a Marina back in the 80s, and the little grub screws that held the "pedestal" to the door mount kept vibrating loose, and needed a dab of Loctite. Not sure if your mirrors use the same system?
