Petrol Gauge

Post by Woody » Thu Sep 08, 2022 12:22 pm

Hi there, new member here learning the Marina ropes!

I have recently purchased a 1980 Marina 1.3 which has been stored since 1992. After a few weeks of recommissioning it is now back on the road! However my buddy at the garage could not get the fuel gauge to work. I’ve taken apart the instrument panel and taken out the gauge itself and there appears nothing untoward, the needle moves freely when gently moved by finger. Could it be the sender unit from the tank?

Any and all thoughts gratefully received.

Many thanks. :)

Try earthing the sender unit to the body I wrap a piece of wire around the pickup pipe with a snall juilee clip and earth to the body
The sender unit earths to the tank and then the tank earth to the body years of being stood could mean a bad earth also check the live wire is cleaned could be just a bad connection if this doesn't work u mite need a new sender unit in tank

Lorenzo, lots of Mk3 Marinas were left over in BL garages for sale after the launch of the Ital.

Does Balmy still have any sender units left in stock?

I think the OE units have all gone, however the club now have a unit modified from another BL car that Tony Miller adapted. Contact David Balme on regalia@morrismarina.org.uk
