Huandu CAC6430

Does anybody know anything about the Chinese Itals (Huandu CAC6430) made in the Sichuan province in the 90s? A chum and I are tempted to fly out there and try to drive one back over here (Gerald Durrell style...) but I read somewhere that they're apparently all but extinct already.
Can anyone shed any light?
Cheers,
Ant

I spent some time pursuing the factory via the Chinese embassy in London, in the hopes that I could import panels etc.

The story seems to go that the factory was only open for three years and then there was some industrial dispute (the curse of BL carried on in China), the Chinese government took a tough line and closed the factory and put everyone out of work.

I think that the factory has been cleared and now makes something else.

There have been reports of cars about but like most things in China, you will have to look hard and probably be prepared to shell out some serious £ to get one. The old Chinese are quite adept at spotting a 'nice little earner'.....

Cheers for the replies guys,
It's a shame it didn't work out for the Huandu. I guess I'll just have to keep my eyes peeled on the Chinese classifieds...
