Post by gjmc525d » Tue Nov 01, 2011 6:19 pm

I have bought a spigot bush for my Jubilee engine but now need to source the outer sleeve ,does anyone know where I can buy one new .
Tried a couple of suppliers but no luck.Does an Mgb engine have the same spigot bush set up?
Any info would be gratefully appreciated :D

Marina B series 1.8, standard gearbox spigot 1/2" diameter. Standard Marina crankshaft 3/4" diameter, so bush should be - 1/2" ID & 3/4" OD.

Earlier Mgbs had a bigger hole in rear of crank, but never fitted by BL to Marina.

Did you get this sorted out? I need the big bush for my T16 conversion. If yes where did you source it?

I had the same requirement when using a crank from an auto for a manual.

As no bush had ever been fitted, there was a large hole in the crank. I asked the engine reconditioners if they could make one, but they said it would be too difficult/expensive/something to do so from bronze.
Instead, they made a steel spacer, and the original bronze bush fits in that.

I did supply a crank with a bush already in it - but they could not get it out without destroying it.

Hope that is of interest.

LeacyMG in the Uk has them on back order. They are having 300 made, but they will be about 2 months, so I have resigned myself to getting a local engineering co. to make me one. I had come to the same conclusion as you and was planning a steel bush to take a needle roller spigot bearing.

Mine will have to be a Frod bearing to match the gearbox though.

Old thread this I know. But did anyone locate a source for the spigot bearing. I looked at the above mentioned Leacy Web site and they don't list them, or anything else for the Marina!

Thanks Chris

So I assume this is an alternative as it seems to be a Land Rover part. I can see it is a needle roller bearing which is going to be superior to the original which I believe was a oilite style bush?

Cheers, Robin
