Moved from old Garage to its new home first run since October

Been stored away for 4 month at least 1 new battery started first time clutch was seized but a run up the road sorted that out straight to the mot and a pass

I got my Marina mentioned on the radio today. Well - I didn't supply any specific vehicle identifying information, so I suppose it could have been any Marina really. But it got a mention. BBC Radio Derby presenter Andy Twigge had started a topic about 'what have you got in your garage', prompted by him having a half-hearted attempt at a garage clear out the night before, and noting that most of the rubbish clogging it up and preventing a car being parked there, was pretty useless. A situation he imagined was quite common, hence the question. He said in his garage was a vacuum cleaner that broke years ago, a leaf blower that was worse than useless, a bicycle that was never ridden....

My text to the radio station read, "Mr. Twigge, in my garage I have a Morris Marina, which rather like your vacuum cleaner, doesn't work." I signed off giving my location as an undisclosed spot in Derby (where I work) but evidently from previous texts to the station, they know everything about me, 'cos when he read out my message he said "Mick from....and gave my home town! Interpreting my vagueness about where I was, as meaning I was in the pub or bookies and probably didn't want the other half to know. I thought he'd have a go at the Morris Marina, with me saying mine was broken, but he did no such thing, and moved on to the next message. Anyway I was just trying to have a bit of fun with it 'cos that's why I bought it. Hopefully I'll be able to provoke more of an astonished reaction round here when it's working again. As it hasn't been seen for a while, a relatively new neighbour did say to me the other day "Is that a Morris Marina you've got in your garage? I thought it was...I had one..."

The shiny carbs have pride of place in my spare room at the moment, and the choke cable is on top of the wardrobe. I've got some time off work coming up soon...

Finally brought PTH back from my mates after replacing one of the rear wheel bearings. Took more than thirty ton of force to separate the hub from the shaft! The force must have been more than thirty because his gauge only go's up to that and it broke! The needle on the dial is stuck at max!
The thing went off like a bomb. The nut was done up half way to stop the hub acting like a cannon... did absolutely nothing, might as well have used blu tack! Stripped the thread clean off of the nut as it slipped off the shaft like a glove. His press is at the back of the garage... the hub was outside! I've heard army grade flash bangs go off quieter than that thing did! We still have the o/s bearing to change yet but my head is still ringing from this one Crazy, never seen (or heard) anything like it.

When I had mine pressed off they did the same, flew across workshop. I was not there to see it.
I think it only took 20 tones of pressure before mine went though

We thought the press broke but it was just the immense energy being released from it. When we do the other side I'll try and remember to video it. It's quite something to see!

Went down to Brum to pick up this MK2 yesterday. Somebody sent a message into the Club Facebook page offering the car- it had sat since the early 2000s when his dad passed away and his mum was now moving house and it had to go or would be off to the scrappy, well we couldn't let that happen could we?!

We got down there and I was amazed by what greeted us. It is really solid, couple of areas of grot on the passenger floor and sill but the rest of it is really good, it has had most of the welding they usually need already including a new pair of wings sometime (along with a new bonnet, fairly sure it has been in a smack sometime). The front brakes were seized solid but a hammer and chisel on the pads soon sorted that. The drums were OK as fortunately the handbrake had been left off. The interior is in really good shape. Sadly the engine was seized but after we unloaded her at my unit I rocked her back and forth in gear and sure enough the fan started turning. Carl came down, we chucked some fuel in her and put a battery on and she fired up almost straight away and ran beautifully! He then promptly bought her

She really is a lovely little car, I would have happily kept it for myself (have a hankering for a MK2) but I know he'll actually get round to doing something with it, and as his space is limited BOP should be coming back to the home for early Marinas
